WATSONVILLE — After nearly four decades of running their own real estate business, Becky and Tony Campos have sold Coldwell Banker Campos Real Estate at 617 East Lake Ave.
Despite the sale, the pair has no plans to leave the industry. They will stay in the office and keep the customers they built up over the years.
They will also keep their property management company Campos Rental Company, and will still be owners of the building.
“I love what I do,” Becky Campos said. “I’m not going anywhere.”
Sigfredo Ponce, who purchased the business, has renamed it Berkshire Hathaway Real Time Realty, after his own Salinas-based business.
He has kept on all the agents that worked for Campos Real Estate, Becky Campos said.
The only change, she said, is the name and the management.
“I’m not the boss anymore,” Campos said. “All I do is sell, so look out.”
She explained that, while they have gotten a handful of offers from other companies through the years, the one from Ponce was too good to pass up, and let her keep her office.
Tony Campos, who served for 12 years on the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors, has been a realtor since 1969.
“You have to love what you do to be successful,” he said. “We’ve been very fortunate, and we’re confident with what’s happened.”
